【摘要】:Degradationinsensorperformancecanoccurduetodropping,mechanicalshockwhilemountedontheteststructure,temperaturecycles,andsoforth.Itisnecessaryanddesirabletohaveasimplemeasurementprocedurethatwillchecktheconsistencyofsensorresponse,whileholdingallothervariablesconstant.Whiletestblocksofmanydifferentkindshavebeenusedforthispurposeformanyyears,anacrylicpolymerrodoffersthebestall-aroundcombinationofsuitableacousticproperties,practicalconvenience,easeofprocurement,andlowcost.Becausetheacousticpropertiesoftheacrylicrodareknowntodependontemperature,thispracticerequiresthattherod,sensors,andcouplantbestabilizedatthesameworkingtemperature,priortoapplicationofthepractice.Attentionshouldbepaidtostorageconditionsfortheacrylicpolymerrod.Forexample,itshouldnotbeleftinafreezingorhotenvironmentovernight,unlessitisgiventimefortemperaturestabilizationbeforeuse.Properlyappliedandwithproperrecordkeeping,thispracticecanbeusedinmanyways,suchas:3.5.1Todeterminewhenasensorisnolongersuitableforuse.3.5.2Tochecksensorsthathavebeenexposedtohigh-riskconditionssuchasdropping,overheating,andsoforth.3.5.3Togetanearlywarningofsensordegradationovertime.3.5.4Toobtainmatchedsetsofsensorsandpreamplifiers.3.5.5Toverifysensorsquicklybutaccuratelyinthefield,andtoassisttroubleshootingwhenachanneldoesnotpassaperformancecheck.1.1Thispracticeisusedforroutinelycheckingthesensitivityofacousticemission(AE)sensors.Itisintendedtoprovideareliable,preciselyspecifiedwayofcomparingasetofsensorsortellingwhetheranindividualsensor'ssensitivityhasdegradedduringitsservicelife,orboth.1.2Theprocedureinthispracticeisnota"calibration"anddoesnotgivefrequency-responseinformation.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thispracticedoesnotpurporttorecommendonesensormanufactureroveranothernordoesitimplythatonetypeofsensorwillreactdifferentlyfromanotherwhenusingthisprocedure.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
